My fellow Jaycees,
Hey! Remember me? I’m that lady who is always telling members that the best part of JCI is that when you need a break, you can take one. Friends, I had to heed my own advice for a little while.
To say that the last two months have been hard would be an incredible understatement. There have been many, many times, recently, where I have thought about giving up. My life is too hard, this pandemic is too much and why am I even spending any time at all worrying about JCI?!
Every single time, I have gotten myself worked up, I stop mid-meltdown and I ask myself that one very important question: Why? Why are you making time for JCI? For me, it’s that one line of the creed: Service to humanity is the best work of life.
Our organization is important. We create positive change. I see you all on Facebook doing amazing projects in your communities, hosting virtual socials for your members and taking time out of your life to care for one another. Seeing these things in my darkest times have reminded me why I am here. So for that, I have to thank you.
I also need to thank the amazing Membership Directors & District Directors for picking things up when I needed to put them down. I need to thank all of our friends and family who have reached out to us during the last few months, and I need to thank probably a thousand other people for a million other things.
So… just… thank you everyone. I cannot wait to spend another year Jayceeing with you. And please, if you are having times right now… reach out to a friend. Find something positive to read about. Take breaks when you need them. Don’t ever give up. We need you.
I love you all you beautiful changemakers!
